The Housing Agreement is a document that constitutes an agreement between the residents and the University of Millersville that acts through housing and residency programs and sets out the conditions under which the resident student occupies the premises in the dormitories administered by the University. The agreement can be found under « Quick Links » on the Housing and Residency Programs website (see Housing Agreement). 1. Revocation of Waiver,2. Disciplinary sanctions on campus,3. Other sanctions, if any. All exemptions granted are valid for the duration of one academic year. Each student must reapply for an exemption each year they are present in less than 60 credit hours, including commuters or residents of Student Lodging, Inc. Affiliate Student Housing3. A fire alarm system is a set of devices located throughout the building that work together to detect resident students through imaging and audio equipment and alert them to the presence of smoke or fire.
These alarms can be activated by smoke detectors and heat detectors. They can also be activated via manual fire alarm triggering devices such as manual call points or traction stations. Fire alarm systems are tested to verify the performance and operational integrity of fire alarm systems and their components, including fuse devices, notification devices and related equipment. Due to the dangers and risks to student residents and firefighters associated with fire alarms, there are penalties for intentionally starting fires; for intentionally causing a false fire alarm; and for vandalism or handling of fire alarm or fire protection equipment. Penalties may include, but are not limited to: fines, loss of housing privileges, suspension and/or criminal prosecution. a. Married students;b. Withdrawal from the University of Millersville (additional documents required);c. Approved leave (additional documents required);d.
Study abroad (additional documents required);e. Students who deal directly with a legally dependent person (notarial declaration and additional documents required);f. Students who already have a high school diploma (verified for verification) or a non-traditional age are, for example, students who reside with a court-appointed parent or legal guardian at that person`s permanent residential address who travels less than 40 miles in one direction (notarized declaration and supplementary declaration required); h. Students who have not yet completed 60 credit hours, but have completed at least 30 credit hours, can apply for a waiver to live in an apartment from a partner, provided space is available. Affiliated housing is defined as any housing managed by Student Lodging, Inc. (SLI).4. Waiver Note: The Housing and Residency Programs reserve the right to place pamphlets under residents` doors or on residents` door handles to obtain information that affects housing policy, operations or procedures. Housing and housing program staff will do everything they can to make the process enjoyable, but no matter if you move or the other person does, someone will have to move.
Staff will help with this process and sometimes it comes down to a coin throw, but sometimes students with the fewest credits have to move. Refusing to move is not an option, and students who do not comply could be subject to disciplinary action. A student`s assignment is for (1) a place in a room and students are not allowed to use items reserved for another person in that assignment. All students residing in a Millersville University dormitory must have an approved meal plan. Resident students can upgrade to another approved meal plan from the date invoices are published until the Friday at the beginning of the semester. Teacher training students and co-op students living in residential or university-run dormitories can request a discounted meal plan by emailing Housing and Residential Programs in Housing@millersville.edu. Students who suffer from chronic diseases or need to take medication regularly should inform Witmer Health Services so that the information can be stored. Students with physical disabilities or disabilities who require special attention with respect to housing assignments should contact the Lyle Hall Learning Services Office. Any resident has the right to appeal any invoice received, unless you have opted for express payment. Objections to invoices must be submitted in writing within 14 days of the date of publication on the invoice by sending an email to Housing and Residential Programs at housing@millersville.edu. All full-time students at Millersville University can live in apartments on campus until they graduate. However, students who have not completed 60 credit hours must live on campus for the duration of their housing contract. On-campus accommodation is defined as residence in one of the following dormitories: East Village, Reighard Hall, Shenks Hall, South Village and West Village.Students are required to perform the entire duration of their housing contract, regardless of the credit hour worked. Terms and conditions 1. Determination of full-time student status All dormitories are air-conditioned and non-smoking. The following dormitories are considered dormitories on campus: East Village, Lehigh (formerly Gilbert), Reighard, Shenks, South Village and West Village. One.
Processing of the waiver will begin on March 1 or as soon as possible thereafter for the fall semester. The clause of the on-campus accommodation contract is a complete academic annual agreement and prevails over any waiver .c. At the time an application for a housing exemption is approved, any pre-existing housing allowance will be released. Initial Application: Anyone who wishes to live off campus must submit their waiver form via their MAX account. The application must contain the basis for the request for exemption. If the reason is not one of the general exceptions, a detailed explanation of the reason(s) must be attached. Decisions based on health or psychological reasons include consultation and recommendation from the Office of Learning Services. The authorization of disclosure is implicit in the submission of this application.
Review: The Occupancy Management Coordinator will review all applications and make a decision on them in consultation with the Director of Housing and Housing Programs and/or their agents with the intention of applying for residency at Millersville University.
